Dear Diary, My teen-angst bullshit now has a body count 🌜
ok to be fair i think we need this in smash:
I see what you’re saying too and thank you for not being mean because I am very tired and not very coherent right now.
I disagree, though. I mean I agree that it’s not your responsibility to avoid rape, and that we need to educate men and young boys about not raping instead of just teaching young girls how not to get raped, absolutely. But I don’t think it’s putting emphasis on it being the victims fault.
I’m so tired of having to be on guard wherever I go, too. Don’t make eye-contact on the train, don’t give a grown man the wrong impression, don’t stay out late alone. I’m sick of it.
And I see change on the horizon. A law in California is being passed right now (i’m pretty sure) that clarifies on college campuses that “yes means yes” instead of “no means no”, moving the blame from the victim and onto the rapist. Which is fantastic and gives me so much hope.
But that doesn’t mean that women aren’t still in more danger than men when we go out. It doesn’t lessen the threat of someone tampering with my drink at a party. And I’m not going to ignore that. My first priority is my safety, and I encourage other women to think the same way. Protecting yourself and each-other from harm should be our first priority as a community.
We shouldn’t need this nail polish. We shouldn’t have to face this daily. But we do for now and that’s going to take time to change. And in the time that it takes to change, if this nail polish saves even 1 girl from facing that kind of awful fate, then it has served a good purpose in the world.
How much bullshit do you have to be full of to be against the anti-rape nail polish?
What, because it’s about women preventing rape instead of the men committing the crime? Because the majority of rapes are committed by someone the victim knows?
No one deserves to be raped, and ending rape culture is vital, but in the mean time rapes are still happening, and that isn’t going to change overnight, as much as we all wish it would.
You don’t want to wear it? Fine. But don’t discourage other women from protecting themselves.

i hate spotify ads because i listen to playlists in the shower a lot and there is nothing more startling than being completely naked and suddenly hearing lebron james say “i’ll tell you what makes me thirsty”
